The Wider Curriculum

Each curriculum subject is led by a team of teachers in school.  We deliver the wider curriculum by subject and this is enriched with visits out of school, virtual visits and visitors into school.

Curriculum Awards & Accreditations

We are delighted to hold a number of awards related to our curriculum and wider provision.  These are: SENDIA Inclusion Award 2026-2029; Barclay Equal Access School Football 2024, 2025; School Games Bronze 2026; RE Quality Mark Bronze 2026-2029.

The New National Curriculum

We continue to review and quality assure our curriculum systematically to ensure that it remains ambitious, coherent, well sequenced and responsive to the needs of our pupils. This ongoing work includes curriculum monitoring, learning walks, work scrutiny, pupil voice, assessment information and professional dialogue, enabling us to identify strengths and areas for refinement and to make proportionate adjustments where appropriate. However, we have deliberately paused any substantive redesign of the curriculum while the national curriculum review is being taken forward. This is a measured approach intended to provide stability for pupils and staff and to avoid unnecessary change or duplication, while ensuring that we are well placed to respond thoughtfully to the revised national expectations once they are confirmed. The Government has stated that it aims to publish the final revised national curriculum by spring 2027, with full implementation and first teaching of the new curriculum from September 2028. In the meantime, our focus remains on securing consistently high-quality curriculum delivery, addressing identified priorities through our existing provision, and maintaining a clear evidence base so that any future changes are purposeful, informed and implemented effectively.

Curriculum Sequence Documents

The Sequence Documents detail a basic outline of the sequence of learning and knowledge acquisition for each unit in the Long Term Overview and includes the defined, non-negotiable knowledge to be acquired through each unit. These are based on the statutory requirements of the national curriculum and EYFS frameworks as well as the the Locally agreed syllabus for RE and materials from the PSHE Association.

Religious Education

We hold RE Quality Mark Bronze from the RE Council.  We are the only school in the South Yorkshire region to hold this accreditation.
